effect of monitor on vroom-vroom

Postby tb# » Oct 15, 2011

My monitor (1280x1024, I think) recently died and was replaced by one of a different size (1600x900, each connected to a 2008-vintage mini running Leopard). This had two interesting but undesirable effects:

* When racing (I don't think I saw this during time trials) the game stutters at about one second intervals.

* The speed of racing is slightly different than the speed of time trials. In particular, though not having played for two weeks and thus out of practice, I immediately set personal bests for lap times and race times in 5 of 6 races. But these same improved lap times could not be repeated during time trials.

Try running the game in a lower full screen resolution or 800x600x32 or 1024x768x32 to see if you can get things back to as they were.

Changing monitor resolution does not appear to keep the effects from happening.

If you can update your graphics cards drivers somehow, do so, apart from that I can't think of anything else to fix this problem - I haven't seen it myself or heard of it happening to others.
