return of no internet acess

Post by borisgleb »

In the last day or two, Solitaire 3D may hang when attempting to access international scores. Full screen or windowed. I downloaded new copy - no difference, renamed old preference file, no difference. I now fail the Internet test, even though a) I'm obviously able to connect to this forum, b) has been working fine, posting international scores for months. ??
It is possible that a Windows update did this - I had a bunch of them installed on 8/14

The same thing has happened to me, but from a later date and Windows update.

I've checked all my potential blockers such as my Trend Micro maximum logs without success, which leaves me to check the Windows Firewall and its logs.

Running Windows 7 Professional, though I have had no previous experience of this problem as the quoted poster appears to have had.

My last windows score updates on the Solitaire 3D " Intelligence" leader board I think were the 15th and 16th of October.

Plays and works OK on the local leader board though.

No similar problems with either the iPad or iPhone. I have yet to check the situation on my MacBook Pro.

Recently I uninstalled Solitaire, downloaded a new copy and managed to pass the Internet test. I still couldn't reach the Internet scores but a few days later, I did. Might be some timing issue between Solitaire and Live Mail...?

I have no problems getting Internet scores on my tablet - using the same router.

No idea Boris though I can't see how Live Mail could affect Solitaire 3D in any way.

Hi. Good afternoon, everyone.

A FEW DAYS AGO DISAPPEARED FROM THE SCORE LIST.

Someone had been after him to see what's wrong. Maybe the server is shut down. If anyone knows anything to indicate.

Have a nice day to you.

Hi Aidan

Further to previous!

Checked my windows firewall log file last night, and it was a big one, looking for faulting with your IP address.

Nothing showed up with IPV4 addressing, so will check again with IPV6 addressing.

Still getting the "NOT RESPONDING" advice in the "ONLINE" mode, requiring a " control, alt, delete" access to the taskmaster to shut the non responding program down, before reactivating for further research.

So my next move is to check the windows management console for related event alerts, as well as using " Wire Shark" access to the IP traffic, and see if I can assist in identify the underlying cause.

I will notify if successful.

Further again to previous.

With regard to the " INTELLIGENCE" leaderboard, there is only one US Windows participant that has lodged a score on the 17th October, all the remaining Windows scorers are lodged, at the latest on the 15th and 16th of October, which leads me to ID the probable cause of the problem to be the WINDOWS UPDATE of around that time, and also to suggest that the US participant lodging on the 17th, maybe does not update automatically, and had " thus" escaped the UPDATE impact.

Herewith the current status of my research so far gained from the EVENTS and ALERTS in my Windows Management Console, I hope it may be of use in fixing the problem.

I have yet to check and research the problem history in " Action Center control panel", additionally, I will look at the suspect Windows updates to see if I can find the offending update, I hope this stuff helps.

Hey troops!

I see I achieved a WIN 7 score register on the " INTELLIGENCE" leaderboard, PM on the 22nd of October, not withstanding the current state of game's connecting status.

I will try again tonight with " Wire Shark " running to pick up the IP traffic, to spot the " pass through", and try and figure out how I did it.

The scoring register was not noticed at that time, as I was playing "Local" late PM on the 22nd, but it was only noticed the following morning when playing the game on my iPad.

VERY INTERESTING !!!!!!

Hi again followers!!!???

During last night's session on the WIN 7 platform, I achieved more sucessful score registrations on the " INTELLIGENCE" leaderboard.

This was achieved by playing in the LOCAL mode and when I had a score worth registering I hit the WORLD mode button and submitted the score, when the " your score Has been updated successfully" window appeared I switched back to the LOCAL mode and then checked the leaderboard on my iPad to view the result.

Each time success was achieved. I did NOT wait on the leaderboard update on the Win 7 platform, as it was the UPDATING action that seemed to be causing the HANGUP the topic of this discussion.

I'm sure that I have the " Update Automatically" set in the options area, and it appears that this could be the cause of recent faulting to NOT RESPONDING, when trying to update the scoreboard.

So tonight I will set the option to " Update Manually" and see what happens.

Stay tuned.

Re above:-

Changed to manual updating from automatic, without any real difference experienced.

Did the same stuff as previously outlined, and new scores were registered as verified on the iPad view.

So it gets back to the windows update stuff installing code that purportedly prevents your computer being accessed remotely. Now I expect correcting that situation while maintaining computer security, will take a bit of sorting out

Probably " SandBoxing" or similar, such as is used in browsers and OSX could be the answer.

There has to be a solution, otherwise, all online gaming would be completely stuffed!!!!

OK Aidan!

When is the fix due out?

Has been carried out when it comes to repairs. You can play smoothly but the charm of this game is to score in a rivalry without this tedious crap.

Thank you Vajna for your valued "critique" "Tedious Crap," on my efforts to identify to the "Grass Games Developers" just where the leaderboard activity of their games had come off the rails.

The progression of my writing activity was directed to them, and not to you, though I had overlooked the fact that some readers may have concluded that I was offering up a solution to the current problem, and this perhaps provoked your comment.

My apologies to you for overloading your attention span.

I am fully aware of the " charm" of competition inherent within their games involving the LEADERBOARD function, as can be seen from my entries within the " INTELLIGENCE " game.

I'm lucky, I suppose, to have various platforms on which to play, even though the MS Windows platforms have for the time being become uncooperative.

Let's hope the games developers are soon able to come up with the necessary fix.

Over to you AIDAN.

Ok I've fixed a bug in the scores in the Windows version. See if you have any more luck in version 6.61 just released.

Thanks Aidan,

Will give it a run tonight.

I would have thought though, that you could run up a score better than 438!

Still only in 12 seconds, beginners can't always be winners.

That was just for testing, naturally :-) . Personally I usually only play Spider's Crossing Triple Deck.

That's what I thought, good update.

I've switched back to auto updating and all is well.

You should have all the missing Windows 7 and 8 players showing up again shortly.

With scores like that mentioned above, though, you must be loosing heaps at the casino!

Thanks again Aidan

Hi.

I apologize if I had offended anyone, unfortunately, poorly drafted. The game is the best quality in the market, a very important race for me to score. Highest However, the trouble is that the Internet is still not a good test control. I downloaded the 6.61 version but do not want to connect to. The AVAST not block anything, what could be the problem.

Thank you and again I apologize.

Now everything is ok start collecting points. Not a problem that will not go full screen, so the view is even better.

If you go to the "System" menu in the "Options" section within the game, you can make the resolution better (higher) in full screen mode also.
