Direct 3D Failure |
by Dick [ 13 May 2006 - 3:42 pm ] |
This message comes up...Switching to the reference rasterizer, a software device that implements the entire Direct3D feature set, but runs very slowly.
I check OK and then...Failed creating the Direct 3D device.
Crash.
Help would be appreciated |

Try some of the following solutions:
. Ensure the video acceleration on your graphics card is set to full. To do this click the Start Menu then select the following: Settings, Control Panel, Display, Settings, Advanced, Trouble Shoot.
. Try running the game in a lower resolution e.g. 640x480x32 or 640x480x16 or in windowed mode.
. Get and install the latest graphics drivers for your video card. You can see what graphics drivers are on your system by clicking the Start Menu then selecting the following: Settings, Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager, Display Adapters, (Select an adapter), Properties.
Some web sites for graphics cards are:
ATI Technologies - www.atitech.com
nVidia - www.nvidia.com
Creative Labs - www.creativelabs.com
Hercules - www.hercules.com
Turtle Beach - www.turtlebeach.com
. Get and install the latest version of Direct X from Microsoft from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx
Hope some of this helps. |

I have tried all of the above, thought maybe my laptop was just too crap to run it, but it runs Civ III, Football Manager '08 and a few others with no problems.
I REALLY want this game to work and am begining to despair. If anyone can offer any other suggestions they'll be gladly appreciated :)
Thanks |
