I think everyone will enjoy V2. Years in coming, I think Aidan has done a thorough job. Bat design and table design is easier than ever. On the main screen, lower left ( control mode ) be sure to try the Tutorial for practicing shots, it is great. Also do not miss shot examples under the help section. I compare my shots to these to see if I am getting it right.
Also the power/spin arrow in the options/settings screen can be set to human only. I have found this invaluable in perfecting my play.Another personal thing i do which has helped is go into the disks option on the main menu. Playing this allows positioning of the ball and great practice on your serves, as only you serve.
I think,as I did, you will find this version the best yet.

Yeah, great idea that "chat room" :^D. The graphics just can't be compared with Table Tennis Pro v1 ; great job there. Same for the A.I., Pai Tong has improved his game much faster than me during this period. But I couldn't believe he would be beaten so easily by the Korean O_o... in the beta, I wasn't able to defeat Kim Pai Tong at speed 10, and I can't imagine what I would look like against the Korean.
For the time being I've only the Lite version of the game, so I can't tell much about the game itself... there's only thing that quite threw me was that by default, the controls are set as "beginner", so I didn't understand why I couldn't move by myself. My first reflex was to check the "Controls" menu to change it... so I think I won't be the only one to who it will happen ;-).
As Jim Bertucci said, this is BY FAR the best version of the game. And still the best ping-pong game on the internet I think :-) |

Ah, I forgot to say that I would have liked some kind of a fanciful mode where you can realize special effects with the ball or the bat, special moves or whatever... |
by Aidan [ 15 July 2006 - 8:30 pm ] |
One point to note about the computer players is that even if computer player A can thrash computer player B, this does not necessarily mean that you (a human player) will find it easier to beat player B than player A. In most cases it does, but not always.
As for fanciful effects, there will probably be a ball trail added in later versions of V2 (free for existing customers), but no plans to add special moves at this time. |

Flat out awesome. I was looking for a tennis game, came across this and was amazed. Great job. And kudos for making it work on a Mac. Thanks! |

David, email me at 3jbert@comcast.net and we can try to play PC to MAC. We tested and it worked, so lets try it.

Fantastic game! One suggestion: include a "warming up" or a "just hit" option. This would be an opportunity to casually hit with somebody (or a computer player) without it being scored as an official game. I need time to warm up before I'm any good, so this option would be helpful. |

Eric, what I did and still do sometimes is play the DISC game. It is good to learn positioning of your shot and it is just like a real game but does not count. Thereare many option to choose from. |

Just finished 1 hour of PC to MAC play. Both were behind a router and lag as good due to both fast connections. We could only connect when I hosted. Going to research that. He was on a MAC and could not host. Will update when I have good info. |

Hey...Can someone help me? When I try to start up Table Tennis Pro V. 2 it says "The D3D device has a non-zero reference count, meaning some objects were not released." Can someone help me and/or tell me what to do? Thanks..Josh |

Josh,
What does the log file say : Start - Programs - Table Tennis Pro - LogFile.
You might try uninstalling the game and installing it again - that might help.

After several succesful internet games behind a router on both players I feel I can post with reliable info. You must have your router set to enable " Port Forwarding " for port 60128. Send your opponemt your router ip, not your ip that starts with 192 if you host the game. For best internet games I suggest a setting of: No force field. The ball will then look more natural as it is returned to you. |

Love the simulation...very realistic in nearly all respects and fun to play. The only negative comment I have would be that the speed changes in a game...not just the speed that the computer opponent hits the ball, but the speed at which the ball bounces, etc. like gravity isn't a constant. If the speed of the game changes, it should be because the ball was hit with more force, yet gravity should always remain the same.
Still, excellent and fun to play! |

I never played v1 so this is my only exposure to TTP but I like it a lot. I do get BSODs sometimes while playing but I think that's maybe when I have too many other programs running. One thing, I like to have a music program playing music while I play but I notice the TTP sound effects are VERY quiet compared to the music, even if the sound is on the highest setting. My workaround is winamp has its own volume slider independent of the "wave" volume slider so I set "wave" to max and winamp to near the bottom and this works. Still, TTP sounds should be louder. I guess I could just turn the gain up on the .wavs myself couldn't I? |

Interesting point about the sound files - will look into it for the next version |

I just downloaded this table tennis game, but I was very much dissapointed. It is not realistic at all. The racket is freezes or at least I dont know how to move the racket, is it posssible and if: how?
I would like to the game to be so that if I move the mouse the racket should follow the mouse. It is very booring with a frozen racket... |
by Aidan [ 09 January 2007 - 10:46 am ] |
The "Frozen Racket" is due to one of the beginner control modes being selected - in these modes the bat is moved automatically - moving the mouse changes the power added to the shot.
You can select the "Normal" control mode to move the bat manually. |

this ame was my favorite game of all time and its been ruined... devastated |
by Aidan [ 10 December 2010 - 2:44 pm ] |
Play around with the controls section in the options - you should be able to get the paddle moving - also make sure you are using at least the normal control mode (the bat moves automatically when using the beginners control mode). |
