Stuck in Beginner's Mode

I guess I'm stuck in the beginner mode where the computer takes the paddle back and forth and you just control direction and force. Anyway, it's pretty dull when you can ignore the game and it keeps playing itself. And I can't get out of this mode. What's the secret?

Click the mode button in the main menu of the game and change the mode to Normal to get more control of the game. This is something I need to fix up in future versions of the game for sure.
