Shot Direction disabled in Beginner 2 Mode
by Franklyn     [ 26 July 2012 - 7:46 am ]
I recently installed Pro V2 for Windows. In Beginner 2 Mode, only Shot Type Selection is working. Shot direction is supposed to be user-controlled, but it is disabled. I can’t direct shots to the left or right, nor lob long or shot. I have tried setting the sensitivities (Overall, Move, Shot Power, Shot Side, etc.) to different values but it makes no difference. I have also tried exiting from the game and re-starting it.

Check the controls menu in the options to ensure that your mouse is selected as the controller used.

In the tutorials section (within the controller mode select screen) you will see that you have to select the shot type first using a mouse button or key depending on how your controls are setup. The tutorials will show you if you are doing it correctly or not.

Aidan,

Thanks for your response. I figured it out. My mouse was already selected as the controller. What was confusing is that in the tutorial the screen just says: Select shot type to practice

This is followed by the three buttons:
LOB FAST SMASH

It sounds as if it is saying: “In order to practice one of these shots, click on either the lob, fast, or smash button.”

It does not tell the player they will need to select a shot type each time they want to make a shot.

Perhaps you could make it clearer by adding: “In play mode, you need to select one of the three shot types with your controller each time you make a shot otherwise you will have no control over the direction of the ball."

I added “otherwise you will have no control over the direction of the ball” because it’s technically inaccurate to say you have to select a shot type. You don’t have to. Just that if you don’t, you have no control over the ball direction.

One other suggestion: You might consider making one of the three shot types the default (e.g., the lob) so that if a player doesn’t select shot type, the computer automatically selects the default shot type. This would make it unnecessary to press the mouse button every single time you want to hit and direct the ball. If lob were the default, then a player would select shot type only to add acceleration to the ball (fast or smash).

Thanks.

Sorry for the confusion.

The reason you have to select a shot type is to prepare you for the next control mode: Normal, where you need to press a shot button to separate the bat movement section from the bat shot section.
