local network game - connection lost

I've noticed that when playing on a local network the game seems to lose the connection everytime a game finishes. This doesn't seem to happen if you quickly start a new game. But anything more than 20 secs or so and it drops off. I've noticed this occuring on windows and mac. Any ideas?? Thanks
